FCC To host digital television transition converter box installation demos.
To ease the transition from analog to digital for consumers in Phoenix, the FCC is hosting a series of converter box installation demos and informational booths to allow consumers to sign up for $40 converter box coupons, learn how to install the converter boxes and secure additional information about the June 12 digital television transition. What is DTV?
Digital television (DTV) is an advanced broadcasting technology that improves picture and sound quality, and provides more channels, and program choices. The switch from analog to digital was authorized by the U.S. Congress, with June 12, 2009, as the final date when full- power television stations must cease broadcasting analog signals. In addition to its other benefits, the switch to digital broadcasts will free up valuable spectrum for public safety communications (such as police, fire departments and rescue squads), and advanced mobile wireless services (such as wireless broadband). For the latest and most up-to-date information, please visit
www.dtv.gov, or contact the DTV hotline, an extension of the FCC Consumer Center’s existing toll free number, at 1-888-CALLFCC (1-888-225-5322). News about the Federal Communications Commission can also be found on the Commission’s website
www.fcc.gov.
Is your television set DTV Ready? In order to see a free, over-the-air digital signal, your television needs to be either DTV ready – meaning a digital tuner is built in, or, for older analog tv-sets you will need to connect a digital converter box. You will need to re-scan you're your tuners to register new channels as they become available. Viewers outside of the Phoenix metro area who are watching on KMOH-6, will also have to make these changes. For more information about the digital transition please call 1-310-216-0063.
My television is DTV ready, but I still can't see KEJR-40 / KMOH-6?Try rescanning your digital tuner. This should pick up the new digital signal. If you are still having trouble viewing our station, please call 1-310-216-0063.
The FCC's special website,
www.dtv.gov, has more information on digital television, or call 1-888-CALLFCC (1-888-225-5322), (TTY: 1-888-835-5322).
